Hydrophobic & Superhydrophobic Coatings

About Hydrophobic coatings

MicroPhase manufactures a line of hydrophobic coatings that can be used on glass, stainless steel, and aluminum. On glass, the contact angles are 108 to 120 degrees depending on the application method. The coatings have excellent chemical resistance (pH of 0.5 to 13.5) and abrasion resistance. The products are used on shower glass, building glass, and car windshields to improve visibility and reduce water spotting and hard water build up.

About SuperHydrophobic coatings

The company also produces fluorocarbon free superhydrophobic coatings with contact angles of 170 degrees. These coatings are used on satellite dishes and radomes to reduce signal attenuation and rain fade.

About Ez ArmorTM

EZ ARMORTM is a hydrophobic surface treatment formulated to produce water repellant and oleophobic properties when applied to glass substrates. The product contains an amphiphilic polymer dispersed in mineral spirits. When applied to glass, the polymer reacts with the substrate via a moisture activated sol-gel chemistry.

About PhasebreakTM SH

PhaseBreakTM SH is a superhydrophobic coating that develops a unique surface morphology, providing water contact angles of up to 170 degrees. The coating rapidly sheds water on surfaces with at least a 3 degree angle. Primary application are for water shedding on microwave communications equipment and radomes.
